Babysitters Course


Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Course in Kingston, Amherstview and Belleville areas delivered by a certified Red Cross Training Partner.

This course will give young babysitters the basic first aid and care giving skills needed to care for babies, toddlers and beyond.  Accident prevention and how to respond to emergency situations are covered in detail. The babysitting course is intended for youth between the ages of 11 to 15 years old.

Getting startedthe business of babysitting: The babysitters’ role and responsibilities, rules of behaviour, safety tips and the expectations of the clients, (both parents and children).

Caring for babies, toddlers and preschoolers: Child care and handling, feeding, dressing, playing, games and toys, safety issues, resolving problems, toilet learning and of course, the dreaded diaper change.

Caring for school aged children: Feeding, dressing, playing, games and toys, safety issues, resolving problems, bed-times and decision making.

Creating safe environments: Indoor and outdoor play safety, water safety, personal safety and security and dealing with strangers.

Handling Emergencies and First Aid: Preventing injuries and illnesses, how to call for help, CPR, emergency actions for choking, no breathing, bleeding, poisoning and other emergencies.

Magill Safety is an accredited authorized facilitator of Canadian Red Cross Babysitters Program and engages only Red Cross accredited instructors. Successful completion of the program will result in a Canadian Red Cross Certificate being issued to the student.

Healthy snacks and drinks are provided but attendees are responsible for bringing a lunch if necessary.
